Frequently Asked Questions
I manage a venue. What can you offer me?
- Great entertainment and outstanding value
- By the book The Flyers will play two 1-hour sets for you. In reality, though, the sets usually last a little longer than this, especially the second one
- We will start and finish at the required times
- If you have a website we'll put a link to it on ours, thereby helping to increase your visibility on the web
- We will provide you with at least two professionally-produced full colour A3 posters at least two weeks in advance of the gig
- We can play music through our PA before and after our sets and during our breaks if you wish
So what kind of music do you actually play?
As described elsewhere on this site, we play a mixture of rock, blues, soul, rhythm & blues, and so on, mainly from the 60's era. We also play some original material. We do not play 'covers' in the sense that the numbers we play all contain quite a lot of improvisation and are rarely played the same way twice. So, we may capture the essence of a number, but at the same time enfuse it with a lot of our own character. We are very definitely a 'live' act.
What is the band's lineup?
Drums, bass, guitar & lead vocals with sax & harmonica. However.... we like to mix things up a lot and often have guests join us. If we know someone in the audience who plays or sings the chances are we'll ask them up to join us for a number or two. This adds a bit of variety and contributes to the party atmosphere we have a reputation for.
Do you only play local gigs?
Most of our gigs do tend to be local, just because that's the way things usually pan out.
Do you play outside the west London area?
Yes, but if a gig requires an overnight stay the organisers need to provide for our transport, accomodation, food and refreshments.
Do you play abroad?
Yes, but it is down to the organisers to provide all travel, accomodation, food and refreshments. Given the kind of music we play the band is particularly well suited to performing for members of British ex-pat communities, especially those who may have been teenagers in the 60's (The Flyers are particularly soughtafter for 50th and 60th birthtday parties). Foreign gigs usually involve a maximum of two nights away from home.
